The Pine School's premier steel pan ensemble, the Knights of Steel, returned from Orlando this past weekend with some of the highest honors at Music in the Parks—one of the nation's most celebrated annual music competitions.
The ensemble earned a Superior Rating, the highest distinction awarded at the competition, a testament to the dedication and artistry the students have brought to their craft all year. Adding to the celebration, Dessa Bogaski '26 was individually recognized as a Top Rated Solo Performer—a remarkable achievement among competitors from across the country.
Perhaps most meaningful of all, the Knights of Steel were presented with the Heart Award—a special recognition given to the group that best demonstrates teamwork, helpfulness, kindness, and respect for one another and those around them.
"I am so proud and humbled to have this experience with the Knights of Steel," said music teacher Dorothy Castle. "All of the students performed the best I have seen this year!"
Congratulations to the Knights of Steel, Ms. Castle, and the entire Pine School community that helped make this moment possible.
