Middle School (5-8)
Memories In The Middle
Have you ever wondered what the inside of a frog looks like or how to protect an egg from a 6 story drop? When’s the last time you marched in a Day of the Dead parade or challenged a friend to the French game of petanque?
Middle School (Grades 5-8) at The Pine School is, in a word, awesome.
“Middle School faculty are experts at bringing subjects to life - and that often means interactive hands-on opportunities and lessons beyond the classroom,” shared Middle School teacher and Science Department Chair Tessie Kerslake.
11 out of 13 Middle School faculty have attended the acclaimed Project Zero Conference at Harvard’s School of Education and love exposing their students to that innovative teaching philosophy. All of that means deeper understanding through cooperative collaboration and visible learning - like sharing what you love about a novel through a self-made movie trailor or exploring other cultures with Skype sessions to classrooms across the globe.
And did we forget to mention all the special just-for-Middle-School programs like dedicated Middle School dances, environmental-based field trips (as part of the School’s Off-Campus Education Week), Student Council leadership opportunities, and the service-based Beta Club? They are all part of what makes The Pine School Middle School years so amazing.
Best of all, The Pine School’s small-by-design environment naturally creates a School that feels just like home - with classmates that support each other and teachers that really know every student. Our Middle Schoolers enter High School prepared, confident, and inspired.
We hope you’ll join us and find out just how different the Middle can be at The Pine School.
