Curriculum Guide for Lower School
The all-important years from Kindergarten through 4th Grade make up a large block of development in children. At The Pine School independence is nurtured and encouraged throughout these formative years of learning. Highly qualified and experienced teachers foster each child’s love of play and eagerness to learn while they attend to the individual progress of each child in skill development. The curriculum is strong and measured against national standards, objectives, and benchmarks.
Character Education is a focus of the program as teachers attend to the social and emotional as well as the academic growth of the students. A global approach to social studies encompasses current events, geography, the study of ancient history and the history of Martin County, Florida. Enrichment classes in Spanish, art, physical education, computer, and music are offered to encourage the development of the whole child. The Lower School offers a wide variety of field trips, programs and presentations, as well as leadership opportunities throughout the school year.
The impressionable years between Kindergarten and 4th Grade require a true commitment from students, teachers, and families to bring out the best in each child. The Pine School’s Lower School is committed to each child as they grow, develop, and strive to be the very best person they can be.
