Course Guide for Middle Grades
Course Guide for Middle School
Welcome to The Pine School Middle Division!
The Pine School encourages Middle School students to explore and develop talents in academics, arts, athletics, leadership and community service. The academic courses offered at each grade level ensure rigorous challenges and unique opportunities for success. Our knowledgeable faculty bring the classroom alive and actively involve students in the learning experience.
The Middle Division has a core curriculum of traditional learning in English, history, mathematics, science, and either Spanish or French. Core courses are enhanced and strengthened by courses in art, technology, choral and instrumental music, physical education, and research/study skills.
At The Pine School we realize the unique needs of early adolescent boys and girls, and we are sensitive to the overall development of the student. Our programs, including the Advisor-Advisee Program, develop self-esteem and self-confidence by recognizing individual and group growth, development, and accomplishments. Understanding and adherence to our Honor Code assures personal integrity and high expectations for appropriate conduct throughout the school community.
The Middle Division at The Pine School offers numerous opportunities for student participation and for students to be leaders among their peers and within the school community. The National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, and school sponsored organizations foster and encourage leadership and community service. Our inclusive sports and fine arts programs, which feature extensive opportunities for students in grades 5-8, offer both boys’ and girls’ teams, clubs, and individual involvement. A personal connection with a faculty member, through our Advisor/Advisee program, fosters personal growth and an understanding of who the student is and what he or she is capable of achieving.
Each Grade participates in an enriching multi-day experiential educational adventure. The 8th Grade travels to Camp Greenville in North Carolina, the 7th Grade will explore the Tampa Bay area, 6th Grade enjoys horse and more at the Circle F Dude Ranch in Lake Wales, Florida and 5th Grade visits Forever Florida in Saint Cloud.
