Our goal is clear and simple: to prepare every student at The Pine School to be a competitive candidate for entrance to the college or university of his or her choosing.
The College Counseling Program at TPS is a developmental sequence starting in the 8th grade. Whether it is a fun discussion about possible college choices during our Week of the Young Adolescent, proper exposure to college admissions testing (Duke TIP, Explore, Plan, ACT, PSAT, SAT), or in-depth coaching through the application process, the College Counseling program is individualized and powerful. There are numerous education programs designed to help parents stay connected with the process during a student's Upper School career.
The process involves group meetings and individual guidance sessions to determine the student's academic interests and passions. A specific academic program is developed that will support the student's intentions for future study. Attention is also given to co-curricular activities that will enhance the students’ Upper School experience and showcase their talents and abilities. Students receive guidance in preparing for the SAT/ACT and structuring their college applications.
Our constant communication with the world's leading colleges and universities have helped put The Pine School on the radar screens of admissions directors. As students narrow their choices, the College Counseling Department at The Pine School assists them and their parents in navigating through the process and making decisions that will position students for success.
